Plum Insurance Agency LLC has roots that date back to 1949 on the kitchen table of a very modest New York City apartment in The Bronx. Aaron Plum, a bright young man with a knack for helping people with their concerns and a head for business, decided he had a future in the insurance industry, based on the ability he developed early on to structure insurance protection for ordinary people and some extraordinary businesses.
Aaron listened well, learned quickly and began to satisfy both his growing list of clients and the
household-name insurance companies who stood behind the policies. That's not easy to accomplish,
but Aaron always seemed to find a way to make sure the insurance packages he proposed and delivered
met the needs of his clients, and were economical and fair to both the insured and the insurer. That
track record enabled him to open Aaron Plum, Inc. in a store-front office on East 170th Street, followed
by another on the Grand Concourse, and today's office on West 231st Street, adjacent to the thriving
commercial and residential Kingsbridge and Riverdale neighborhoods. As the firm grew, he added other
dedicated insurance professionals to his staff and built the business on its reputation for delivering
quality coverage at fair prices -- with never, never charging a client for advice, counsel or service.
The economical, sensible, low-pressure Plum Insurance approach continues today, both in New York City and in the recently opened Westchester office on Garth Road in Scarsdale. Aaron continues to attend to his clients' needs and, of course, their claims when they arise. He is supported by a seasoned staff, as well as by his daughter, Ellen Plum Rosenberg. A senior insurance professional in the Plum organization for nearly a decade, Ellen now also serves as President of Plum Insurance Agency LLC, and she continues to welcome and receive Aaron's advice and assistance, benefiting existing and new clients alike.
Then as now, clients include individuals needing life and health insurance, protection for people and property in single- and multi-family houses, coops, condos and rental apartments, coverage for car and truck owners and operators, restaurateurs and other retailers, as well as those with special and sophisticated requirements to protect their lives, businesses, property, liability and financial resources.
